• Celebritain Interview... Fanfair

We love Fanfair we do. They've been doing great things on The Wanted's tour and so we had a little chat with Roberta to find out more...

    How's the tour going?

It's crazy, we're more than half way through now, it's just going so quicky. All the days roll into one, I can't believe we've done so much already.

For such a new band the audiences you are performing to are huge, what goes through your mind when you're on stage?

We just feel so lucky. This is one of the most exciting things to every happen to us. It's just amazing looking out, and seeing people enjoying it and all the banners and everything. We try and stay calm and enjoy it.

    What's it like backstage?

It's crazy, you've got The Wanted and Lawson, Parade and Ben as well there are lots of people running around. Generally we have to do our own thing because we all soundcheck seperately and go into hair and makeup etc, but I know Lawson and The Wanted were playing football the other day.

Do you get much time with the other support acts?

A little bit, we don't get to hang out to much, after the shows we just jump into a car and go straight off to the next place, but we're all cool.

A lot of fans would like to think there is rivalry between you and Parade, what do you say about that?

Absolutely not. No rivalry at all. They're all lovely, and we do different music in a different style. We enjoy each other's success, there is none of that stuff going on at all!

You spend lots of time travelling and in hotels etc, what's that like?

We have a deal with the Hilton group, we are so lucky because the hotels are so nice. We are so lucky, we went to the gym in Newcastle and Mel C was there! That was amazing and Ozzy Osbourne was in Birmingham, so we keep bumping into amazing people! I just said hello to Mel C and she was lovely.

What reaction are you girls getting?

Very positive actually, we weren't sure if people would know of us, but in these huge arenas we see the banners, we see that people know our songs and they do come and speak to us. I dont think the fans realise we can see them so clearly from the stage but we can.

There was void for a few years of Girlbands in the charts, do you think the girlband is back?

Yes. Well we hope so! The industry is tricky and it's a hard thing to do but we want to be around for a long time.

One Direction and The Wanted are having huge global success, do you think they'll open more doors in America for UK pop acts?

I think so yes. They've having massive success aren't they? I think it will open doors for UK acts, people will start to pay attention and will want to find our more about us acts from the UK.

How many of Fanfair are single?

    2 of us are single.

You're hanging out with The Wanted, Lawson... any sparks?

Aw no, there's no time for sparks! We're good girls. We're boring. I like to go to bed with a good book. We don't do anything naughty, we're good girls... not like these boybands!

We were talking to you and Lawson on Twitter about some amazing ciders, have you tried any of them?

No not yet, but there are so many drinks which i've never had before. We have Vimto on our rider and because i'm from Ireland i'm like what the hell is that? And Irn-Bru! I've never heard of these drinks before. I've tried them now, and i've had a taste of a Cheeky Vimto as well.

Tell us more about your plans for the rest of this year?

We're going back in the studio after this tour to finish the album, and then we'll be back on the road before the end of the year. We haven't chosen the first single yet, we're weighing up the responses our tour etc, but keep in touch everyone on Twitter and Facebook because we hope to release later this year and hopefully we will do some stuff in the Summer as well. If you've heard The Vaccine that's been getting a great reaction so that could be a single but we will have to see, it's a bit early to know yet.

OK finally, what you got for dinner?

I think it'll be chicken and brocolli, something healthy - although we did have a McDonalds the other night!

Naughty. OK enjoy the rest of the tour!
